LST provides support to Tampa-area K-12 classrooms using service-learning as an instructional strategy in order to make lessons more meaningful, build civic engagement, personal and social skills, and academic knowledge based on real-world issues.

You will be helping our K-12 youth find meaning in the lessons they learn in school! Students who are engaged in service-learning make stronger connections to academic knowledge gained while serving the community. Service-learning is a research-based pedagogy that intentionally connects academic learning to critical issues in the community so that student learn through service.LST is currently working with over 20 middle and high school AVID and IB programs to get students volunteering and doing community service, but also working with teachers who desperately need motivation and support to revive themselves and their students, many of whom do not find meaning in everyday lessons. If you love kids and serving your community, and you value teachers and education, LST will be a great fit. You will have visibility on out emerging social media campaign around three national days of service (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is coming soon and you can ride on our parade float!). As a Partner in Education with Hillsborough County Schools, we are apply to publicize via the schools on a monthly basis.LST works closely with several veteran organizations (ex. Travis Manion Foundation, The Mission Continues, C.R.I.S.P. Foundation) and Gold Star families (GS mothers, Woody Williams Foundation). We also partner with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, the Ryan Nece Foundation, and many other local nonprofits.
