Our mission is to prevent pregnancy loss, childhood death, and disability due to congenital CMV (cCMV). cCMV is the most infectious cause of birth defects in the United States and the leading cause of non-genetic hearing loss in US infants.

We serve

We provide cCMV education, information and resources through our federal and local advocacy efforts, high-impact research support and awards, and outreach and education efforts, all to increase awareness of cCMV for pregnant people, expectant families, childcare providers, medical professionals, and the general public.

Our greatest accomplishment last year

Providing more than 12,000 educational cCMV resources, partnering with the NIH to plan to the CMV Vaccine Workshop (CMV Vaccine Development: How Close Are We?) with more than 200 attendees, and working with congressional leaders to draft the Stop CMV Act, which was introduced this year.

Reasons to serve on our board

We are the largest US based 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to preventing pregnancy loss, childhood death, and disability due to congenital CMV (cCMV). We are a passionate group of CMV advocates, parents, clinicians, and researchers dedicated to eliminating cCMV in the United States for the next generation. As the largest national advocacy organization focused on congenital CMV, in a time in which infectious disease and public health are top of mind for all, we can now plan for a much taller order. We are seeking dedicated, passionate, and committed governing board members to help the organization positively grow and expand its impact and resources.

Our ideal candidate

The Board of Directors is an oversight body responsible for advising, guiding, governing and promoting the National CMV Foundation (NCMVF) to support the organization's mission and impact. Board members will actively participate in strategic planning, organizational expansion, and fundraising. We are seeking applicants who have a passion for the NCMVF mission and vision, and who are adept at strategic planning, interested and experienced in fundraising and advocacy, and leaders in their communities. While we welcome applicants from all backgrounds, skills and experience, we are prioritizing applicants with expertise in finance, fundraising, law, and human resources.
