Our mission is...Spanish Lyric Theatre is committed to promoting the cultural history and diversity of our city and to creating opportunities for local talent of all ages, nationalities, and denominations. Our goals are: preserve, present, and celebrate the cultural, musical, and theatrical heritage of the Hispanic population in the Tampa Bay area provide local artists and theatre-goers professional-quality experiences in Hispanic and American musical theatre; and educate the community at-large and especially younger audiences about the community's cultural history. Spanish Lyric Theatre is Tampa's oldest non-profit 501(c)(3) theatre company celebrating its 59th season

Our greatest accomplishment last year was...Producing Luisa Fernanda in Spainsh and English with a 20+ piece orchestra

Serving on our board will be awesome for you because...

In 2019, we celebrate our 60th anniversary. We have some very special plans including producing one of the most famous zarzuela's, "La Verbena de la Paloma" in Spanish with English Supertitles,  performing "Man of La Mancha"  in both English and Spanish, and bringing back our original musical "Ybor City Cinderella". Additionally, 2019 provides us an opportunity to promote new programming including a new Young Playwriters competition, and our educational program called Reviva Ybor.

Our goal is to be THE go to theatre for bilingual productions and we need your help keeping a part of Tampa's history alive.

Our ideal candidate is...

Someone with a passion for musical theatre, opera, and who loves Tampa and its rich cultural history. Someone who can work with us to develop new programs for bilingual programming for all ages. Someone who can help spread the word about SLT throughout the business community. Someone who can bring expertise in marketing, fundraising, accounting/finance, etc.  If you don't have the expertise, but have the time and passion, we want to hear from you too. We also have opportunities to volunteer on numerous committees!

Our current board size is...7
We meet (when and where)...2nd Wednesday of the month, in the evenings for one hour. Typically at La Teresita at Cape de Villas
The time commitment is...1 hour for monthly board meeting. As a working board member we ask for you to commit additional time to helping us achieve our goals.
