The 2018 Tax Act–were you trumped or blowing the trumpets? Spend a couple of hours with Byron Smith from Gregory Sharer and Stuart as he leads our discussion on how the new tax act affects both your organization and your donors and what you can do.

Byron joined Gregory, Sharer & Stuart in 1999 and became a shareholder in 2001. He is the leader of our Wealth Strategies & Services Team and also oversees all tax services rendered for our not-for-profit clients. His areas of concentration include planning for wealth accumulation and preservation, taxation and accounting issues regarding estates and trusts, board governance, and tax consulting for not-for-profit organizations.
Byron has developed extensive knowledge in service to not-for-profit organizations, charitable giving, and business succession planning for closely-held businesses. In addition, Byron has been actively involved in comprehensive income tax planning for individuals, S corporations, controlled groups and partnerships in retail, manufacturing, agricultural, and various service industries and client representation before the Internal Revenue Service.
Byron graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Byron is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Florida. Through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, he holds both the Personal Financial Specialist certification and the Accredited in Business Valuations certification.
Byron is a member of both the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and previously served on the tax committee of the West Coast Chapter of the FICPA. He is actively involved with the Tampa Bay and Suncoast Estate Planning Councils, serving as president of both.
Community and Civic Organizations Served
Byron is currently involved with the Salvation Army as immediate past Chairperson of the Advisory Board. He is the Chair of the Pinellas Community Foundation and serves on the Planned Giving Committee of the Pinellas Education Foundation. Byron has served on many other community organization boards over the years.

NLC/Children’s Board of Hillsborough County No-Show Policy – effective July 1, 2018
The Children’s Board of Hillsborough County (CBHC) has asked NLC to reframe our no-show policy for their providers.
Effective July 1, CBHC-funded organizations using codes to claim CBHC-funded seats at NLC trainings or events will be responsible for payment of registration and processing fees in the event of a no-show. Please read the full no-show policy here.
