Welcome to the 2018 Fund Development series, underwritten by Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg. 

These beginner to intermediate-level Fund Development sessions are FREE but you must pre-register using the provided code.

You may attend all 3 sessions or any combination of the 3. The sessions are designed to build upon one another so, if you’re new to nonprofit fund development, attending all 3 is recommended but there are no pre-requisites.

Session 1–Building a Development Plan that Works!

If you want to get the most out of your fundraising efforts, start with a development plan. Join consultant and NLC trainer Sara Leonard to learn the best way to organize a development program – whether you’re just getting started or well on your way.

At this session you will:

  • Increase your understanding of a plan and its place in increasing your organization’s viability
  • Understand different elements that may go into your organization’s development plan
  • Begin creating a fund development plan that best serves your organization

You will leave this program with the skills to to draft or strengthen your organization’s development plan.

This is a class for those new to fundraising as a profession or nonprofit board member. (Level: Beginner to Intermediate)



Sara Leonard, CFRE 

The founding director of the Nonprofit Leadership Center’s Fund Development Academy, Sara launched the Sara Leonard Group in April 2015 to provide consulting, coaching and training to fundraisers, CEO’s and nonprofit board members. She continues to serve as an instructor for the Fund Development Academy.

Sara serves on the board of directors of the Suncoast Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and New Tampa Young Life.  She is a former board member of the AFP Florida Caucus.  She lives in Tampa with her husband and two children.


CFRE Continuing Education Points
Full participation in this program is applicable for 4.0 points in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.
