Mindfulness is used regularly to great effect to reduce stress and make better decisions. In this workshop, you will dig into how to become a better, more authentic leader by using mindfulness to discover your own leadership values, as opposed to trying to lead like “the expert.” This will be an interactive seminar teaching you skills such as mindful listening, how to take mindful breaks during a busy day and how to lower your own stress to make better decisions for yourself and your team.
Rick Bennett manages community development and education for Florida Blue’s West Region, located in Tampa, FL. A native Floridian, Rick has served as a pastor, nonprofit leader and Spiritual Care Director in hospice. His interest and leadership in mindfulness and meditation began in seminary and as he served as a pastor. While a Spiritual Care Director for a local hospice, Rick received formal training on mindfulness and the dying process. He then took these practices to the business and nonprofit world, leading seminars and trainings, including at Florida Blue. Presently, his practice includes yoga and meditation at a local mindfulness institute.
Rick’s local philanthropic work includes serving as a member of the board of directors for Feeding Tampa Bay, Board Chairman for the Sulphur Springs YMCA and on the Advisory Board for the Tampa Innovation District (!P). In the past he has served as a staff member at Metropolitan Ministries and founding board member for the Edible Peach Patch in St. Pete.
Rick and his wife live in Seminole Heights with their 3 children, Gillian, Aedan and Rhys, along with their dog Hazel Rey. They are all FSU and Lightning fans.
