Session 1:  Getting to YES: Best Practices in Major Gift Fundraising

Asking for and receiving major gifts is the most cost-effective way to raise money. Too often, staff and board members don’t know how, are overwhelmed by the process or are too afraid to ask. If this sounds familiar, this workshop is for you! Alyce Lee Stansbury, CFRE, fundraising expert and popular NLC instructor, will help you build authentic relationships with donors, earn the right to ask and ensure individual giving is a thriving part of your fundraising program — even during the most challenging fundraising climates.

Session 3:  From Chasing to Retaining Donors: How to Deepen Donor Loyalty in a Virtual World

The COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t just changed how nonprofits fundraise; it has also changed how they must ask and thank donors for their support. This interactive workshop will affirm that the best way to raise more money is by taking better care of existing donors. Join Alyce Lee Stansbury, CFRE, fundraising expert and popular NLC instructor, who will expose the donor retention crisis and reveal proven strategies for thanking and engaging donors. Class participants will discover better, more effective ways to build donor loyalty and earn the right to ask again — all in a virtual fundraising environment.

Alyce Lee Stansbury, CFRE is a 25-year fundraising veteran and seasoned advisor in nonprofit management and board development. She has raised millions of dollars and helped her clients grow fundraising results by over 200% and exceed campaign goals by 45%. Alyce Lee is nationally certified Master Trainer in Fundraising, a sought-after speaker, and co-writes a weekly newspaper column called “Notes on Nonprofits.”

She is past President of the Big Bend chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and first recipient of the chapter’s Outstanding Fund Raising Professional Award. She is Board Chair of the Institute for Nonprofit Innovation and Excellence in Tallahassee and a passionate advocate for the nonprofit sector.


 Sara Leonard, MBA, CFRE is a solutions-oriented advancement professional with over 25 years’ experience in development and administration in the nonprofit field.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Tampa and an MBA from the University of South Florida.  She is a Certified Fundraising Executive and has been named as a Master Trainer by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

She has worked in the nonprofit sector raising funds for healthcare, educational and cultural organizations. She managed development operations including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors, managing annual giving, major gift cultivation and solicitation, training and management of staff, board and volunteers, foundation and corporate support, sponsorships, annual funds, special events and in-kind support. She is widely considered an expert in crisis fundraising and has guided organizations through capital campaigns – both large and small.
