The Certificate in Volunteer Management teaches best practices relevant to today’s volunteer manager.
Designed to address the challenges all volunteer managers encounter to recruit, retain and reward their volunteers, the curriculum is designed by Hands On Network, the volunteer-focused arm of Points of Light Institute. NLC Trainer Sara Leonard, MBA, CFRE leads sessions that are interactive, include hands-on exercises, and provide comprehensive information to use immediately when you get back to your organization.
You will receive the Florida Association for Volunteer Resource Management Certificate upon completion. Attendance at all sessions of the course, completion of assignments, and passing module tests is required to earn the certificate.
**THIS TRAINING HAS 3 SESSIONS. YOU MUST ATTEND ALL 3 SESSIONS TO EARN THE CERTIFICATE.**
This module lays the foundation of volunteer management. It addresses current trends in volunteerism, identifies the elements of a successful volunteer program, and discusses motivations of volunteers.
Planning Your Volunteer Program
This interactive module takes you through the steps required to effectively plan a volunteer program. It identifies methods of conducting needs assessments, key elements to include in your volunteer program budget and discusses appropriate roles and purpose for your program volunteers.
Recruiting and Placing Volunteers
In this module, you’ll learn effective steps for volunteer recruitment and placement and plan how to improve these processes. You’ll also learn of local and national resources that can connect you to prospective volunteers for your agency.
Orienting and Training Volunteers
This module will help increase your knowledge of training volunteers to perform effectively and enjoyably, increase your comfort level in planning training for your volunteers and help you to develop plans for improving your volunteer training.
Volunteer supervision can be as time intensive as staff supervision. This module will help you increase your ability to design and use volunteer supervision strategy, and design next steps for improvement of their supervision.
Evaluating Your Volunteer Program
The last module addresses the evaluation of your current or growing program. You should be able to increase your ability to plan to evaluate and develop steps for a continual evaluation process.
