GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Samaritan Counseling is a spiritually integrated mental health counseling organization providing professional services in Sarasota and Manatee counties for the past 23 years.  We are seeking a Development Director who will be responsible for spearheading development efforts as Samaritan Counseling continues to grow. An ideal candidate would be a natural storyteller with the ability to supplement their creativity with data-driven research to share information about organization goals that appeal to each donor’s unique mission and show that the organization will be good stewards of their gifts.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Develop and execute Samaritan Counseling’s annual development plan in cooperation with Board Development Committee

·       Cultivate and secure financial support from individuals, foundations, churches and corporations

·       Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors

·       Supervise staff responsible for data entry and gift processing

·       Oversee organization and execution of fundraising budgets and events

·       Manage grant process by researching, preparing, monitoring, and reporting for major grants.

·       Lead committee to implement and execute Samaritan Counseling’s 25th Anniversary Celebration and Campaign

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED (Must have)

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT)

·       Excellent organizational, managerial, and oral and written communication skills

·       Ability to communicate the mission, vision and values of the organization in all settings

·       Ability to monitor progress and track results of campaigns, grants and events

·       Ability to deal professionally and effectively with the public

·       Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization

·       Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources

·       Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information about client services in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

·       Non-profit experience with a proven record of accomplishment in fund development, grants and event management.

·       Knowledge of the Sarasota/Manatee philanthropic community.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

·       Bachelor’s degree – Advanced degree preferable

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

·       Starting Salary: $65,000   Commensurate with experience.
