Compensation: $135,000.00 – $175,000.00 per year

SPCA Tampa Bay is seeking a dynamic Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to join our team. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CAO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and provide strategic leadership in all resource development, marketing and communications endeavors to drive fundraising efforts, enhance brand awareness, and foster community support for our mission.

Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Tampa Bay is the only non-profit, animal welfare agency that runs an open-admission For-All animal shelter ( in Pinellas County. The SPCA Tampa Bay animal shelter in Largo cares for more than 8,000 animals annually, including injured wildlife.

What you’ll do:

Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive development strategies, including major gifts, direct mail, and special events.
Establish annual funding metrics/goals in collaboration with the CEO and oversee resource allocation to increase fundraising capacity.
Manage donor relations and ensure effective use of fundraising resources, maintaining a robust donor base.
Lead capital campaigns, from strategic planning to donor cultivation, ensuring campaign success and alignment with organizational goals.
Create and execute strategic marketing plans to promote organizational objectives and cultivate media relationships.
Provide leadership and direction for all development and marketing activities to build brand awareness and increase support.
Supervise and train staff, recruit volunteers, and represent the organization at events to advance relationships with external partners.
What we’re looking for:

Bachelor’s degree and valid Florida driver’s license.
CFRE designation preferred.
A strong history of successfully closing major gifts
Minimum 7 years of nonprofit fundraising and marketing experience, with proven success in income development.
Strong leadership and management skills, with a track record of achieving goals.
Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, donor management software, and marketing tools.

SPCA Tampa Bay was originally founded on July 15, 1940, in St. Petersburg, Florida, as the Animal Welfare League (AWL). At that time Pinellas County’s cities were responsible for managing the stray and homeless dog population.  The organization continues to thrive and grow, striving to meet the needs of our community and provide compassionate care to the animals we serve. What you will receive:

120 hours of PTO + 6 paid holidays and 3 floating holidays
