In this session, facilitated by Amarela Peqini, NLC’s Business and Operations Manager, Michelle M. Sanchez, CPA, NLC Treasurer and Audit Member of Warren Averett CPAs and Advisors, will join us to discuss the new lease standard ( ASC “Topic 842”). Nonprofits big and small are required to adopt this standard, resulting in new right-of-use assets and right-of-use lease liabilities. In this session, we will discuss some of the pain points as well as answer your questions on Topic 842.
Michelle has been practicing in the public accounting profession in the Tampa Bay area since 1994. She is a leader of the Firm’s Nonprofit Industry Service Team. She is also a member of the Firm’s Manufacturing and Distribution Industry Services Team. Michelle is primarily responsible for audits, reviews and compilations for a broad-based clientele including nonprofit organizations, manufacturing firms, distribution companies and various service industry companies.

Amarela Peqini, EMBA, is a dynamic leader with 20 years of experience in the financial sector. She began her career in the nonprofit sector in 2017 when she relocated to the United States from Albania and joined the InterCultural Advocacy Institute. She currently serves as the director of finance and operations at the Nonprofit Leadership Center where she oversees finance, financial strategy, and operations and innovation and helps nonprofits explore new funding opportunities to diversify revenue and develop greater financial capacity.
