The individuals we serve are often socially isolated, having met few if any other people with this rare chromosomal disorder. Â Most have social skills deficits, making it even more difficult to connect with their peers during those important middle school and high school years. When they join one another at BITSS, they bond with one another almost immediately, and form life long friendships. They learn more about their condition and about how to advocate for themselves with medical professionals. They also learn more skills for independence. Seeing the transformation that occurs in one week is life changing for those who form and run the program as well!
