To succeed in today’s competitive grant writing environment, fundraisers and nonprofit professionals must practice and master critical skills to develop winning proposals. Now, you can take your career and impact to the next level by obtaining your Certificate in Grant Writing.
During this interactive, four-day certificate program, you will learn best practices for developing winning grant proposals.
The current (2024) fee for this four-session training program is $580.
The next Certificate in Grant Writing starts on October 31, 2024.
Narratives and Outcomes
Learn how to develop a toolkit, write a grant narrative and set measurable and reliable outcomes.
Budget and Research
Receive the tools to develop a program budget, participate in live exercises and learn the various resources available to conduct grant research specific to your organization.
Grants Management
Writing the grant is only the first step of the funding process. We will address the “now what?” of grants and provide insight on how to manage grantor relationships and expectations. (For a deeper dive on this topic, check our annual training calendar for the next round of How to Successfully Manage Grants, offered annually).
Grants Writing Practice and Feedback
Students will draft sections of a grant application and will have the opportunity to share with their peers to both receive feedback and review other students’ drafts.
Grant Funder Panel
Local grant experts will provide helpful feedback on how you can improve your grant writing and grant application process.
Participants must attend all four sessions and complete all assignments to receive the Certificate in Grant Writing. You must attend the first session to continue to subsequent sessions. If you have to miss a session, you may make it up in a future course offering. You must complete all sessions and assignments within 12 months to receive the Certificate in Grant Writing.
The Certificate in Grant Writing is specifically designed for nonprofit professionals who have little or no experience in grant writing and those who seek to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in today’s competitive grant writing environment.
“I used to view grant proposals and the grant writing process as an intimidating prospect — something I was interested in but had no idea how to begin. This certificate program made it so much easier to understand and gave us the chance to apply what we learned in a practical way. I now feel much more confident about grant writing and excited to help write a grant for my organization starting next week. That is only possible thanks to the Nonprofit Leadership Center.” Nonprofit leader
