Changing Change Management: Why & How to Think Differently About Organizational Change at Your Nonprofit

About This Event

Starting:

Wed, April 19, 2023
In-Person

With change happening at a rapid pace, it’s essential that everyone in an organization is engaged in the change process. However, team members often become resistant to or fearful of necessary changes — not because of the change itself — but because of how that change is handled. As workplaces and nonprofits continue to evolve, traditional models of change management aren’t enough; transformational change requires a design approach.

During this interactive course, you’ll learn how to think differently about change management by adopting a design approach. Change by design is the collaborative process by which the design methods are employed so that organizational change is transformational, not transactional, due to the commitment and innovation from the people involved. You will practice a step-by-step strategy and learn practical tools proven to ignite employee commitment and ensure sustainable, impactful change.

During this half-day session, you will:

  • Compare traditional change management practices to progressive change by design methods
  • Understand the mindset and role of a change designer
  • Practice utilizing a step-by-step change by design strategy that focuses on both the business and people sides of change
  • Experiment with numerous changes by design tools and exploratory questions that effectively support the process and create sustainable change

Who should attend this session?

Professionals at all levels can benefit from this course. Those who may play a role in leading or initiating organizational change (executive directors, department heads, team leads) or executing change (HR professionals, communications staff, project managers, program staff) may find this course particularly useful.
