Going Beyond a DEI Statement: Strengthening Your Organization’s Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

About This Event

Starting:

Tue, April 25, 2023
In-Person

Having a DEI statement isn’t enough. It’s essential for organizations and leaders to make statements about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) real in their everyday culture.

How should nonprofit organizations explore and articulate their commitment to DEI? During this course, you will answer this question through a thoughtful process that evaluates your individual and organizational perspectives.

While an organization cannot be biased itself, it reflects the biases and beliefs of its leaders and representatives. Together, we will explore how those differing perspectives come to life within your organization as the first step toward establishing a culture that supports and promotes DEI, thus increasing your ability to be more collaborative and inclusive.

In this class, you will:

  • Develop a foundational understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Learn how implicit bias impacts beliefs, values and actions and contributes to organizational cultures that either foster or stifle DEI
  • Assess your organization’s DEI practices and policies to inform next steps
  • Examine the importance of timing, involvement and purpose behind crafting a DEI statement
  • Understand how to begin articulating your organization’s commitment to DEI
