Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the VP of Advancement serves as a key leadership team member and is responsible for all fundraising and development activities. This position is responsible for the organization’s financial stability and growth. The VP leads all advancement functions and is accountable for developing and implementing overall fundraising strategies, cultivating major donors, and overseeing all aspects of fundraising activities. This position will be responsible for building strong relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporations, while ensuring our donor stewardship program fosters lasting connections.

*A combination of education and experience may be considered
– Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, non-profit management, or communications preferred.
Experience (Type of work experience, min. number of years):
– 10+ years of experience in fundraising for nonprofits, including experience in expanding and cultivating existing donor relationships and a proven track record of success in securing major gifts.
Technical or Administrative Knowledge:
– Knowledge of Microsoft Office Productivity Tools (MS Word, Excel, outlook, PowerPoint).
– Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software preferred.

Job Functions, Unique Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
General
• Follow the administrative guidelines and policies established.
• Maintain a community image consistent with the mission.
• Engage in a relationship with the team which is mutually beneficial, fosters teamwork, and advances the mission.
• Exercise due care and stewardship of resources, including equipment, food, money, volunteer and staff time.
• Be aware of the general physical environment for the health and safety of all people and proper maintenance of facilities.
Strategic Leadership
• Develop and implement a formal fundraising orientation and ongoing donor relations training for board members.
• Recruit and sustain active leaders from the board to proactively engage in fundraising, advocacy, and community outreach events and serve as the liaison for the board.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive annual advancement plan aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.
• Recruit and/or outsource and maintain an appropriate fundraising infrastructure to advance revenue growth and program support.
• Develop and adopt an annual fundraising department budget to incorporate and accurately project revenue and expenses.
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify and prioritize fundraising prospects.
• Establish and maintain a gift acceptance policy that ensures responsible and ethical fundraising practices.
Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management
• Cultivate and steward relationships with a portfolio of major donors (minimum of 120 annually).
• Develop a comprehensive donor relations process that includes procedures for solicitation, communication, stewardship, tracking, and evaluation.
• Build processes to implement a moves management strategy for the acquisition of new and repeat donors.
• Design and oversee a robust stewardship program that fosters long-term donor loyalty.
Fundraising Initiatives
• Develop and implement processes for creative fundraising initiatives utilizing social media, online marketing, electronic invoicing, and payment to diversity our income streams.
• Oversee the planning and execution of special events that generate significant revenue.
• Create and manage a comprehensive corporate philanthropic investment package to appeal and involve potential community partners.
• Create and implement a planned giving program to support the organization in perpetuity.
Communications and Public Relations
• Develop a public relations and communications plan that fosters brand awareness and amplifies our message.
• Oversee the creation of compelling marketing materials for fundraising campaigns.
• Work collaboratively with the communications team to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
• Develop a one-page case for support that can be used for funders, public relations, and fundraising efforts.
Management and Oversight
• Provide leadership and direction to the advancement team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
• Develop and implement performance metrics to track progress towards fundraising goals and measure the effectiveness of campaigns.
