The Certificate in Volunteer Management is an interactive and practical program that teaches best practices relevant to today's volunteer manager. The certificate is generally taught in 3 half-day sessions.

This program is designed to meet the needs of the next generation of volunteer managers. The curriculum is designed by Hands On Network, the volunteer-focused arm of Points of Light Institute, and offers comprehensive information on effective volunteer management.

Topics Covered:

  • Understanding Volunteering
  • Planning Your Volunteer Program
  • Recruiting and Placing Volunteers
  • Orienting and Training Volunteers
  • Supervising Volunteers
  • Evaluating Your Volunteer Program

Participants will receive the Florida Association for Volunteer Resource Management certificate upon successful completion of the Certificate in Volunteer Management.

To successfully complete the Certificate, participants must attend all sessions of this program, complete all assignments, and pass module tests with an 80% or better score. If a student must miss 1 session, excluding the first session, they may make up that session when the program is next offered. Missing the first session or any 2 sessions disqualifies a student from earning the Certificate. Failure to pass the tests or turn in homework assignments will also disqualify a student from earning the certificate.

"Thank you so much for offering this Volunteer Management Certificate program. The concepts and ideas that were presented will allow us to improve our well established volunteer program. I am very excited about working with my Volunteer Advisory Council to improve our impact and awareness." --Yvonne Marrone, Guardian ad Litem Program
