- Identifying, recruiting, on-boarding and even releasing board members
- Cultivating a successful board-staff partnership
- Establishing the board’s fundraising role
- Understanding board member motivation, responsibilities and accountability, including conflicts of interest
- Competing governance models and governance trends
Session Two
What is an executive committee meeting, and when do you call one? What do all those financial reports mean? What questions should you be asking?
Take a deeper dive into what makes rock star boards work so well. Learn about the most efficient and effective ways to utilize committees and run your meetings.

After this session, you’ll understand:
- How to plan and run a successful meeting
- The board’s role in financial oversight
- Your nonprofit’s financial statements
- Budgeting and cash flow management
- Audits and IRS filings
This certificate is designed for nonprofit executives, their board members and/or business leaders who are interested in serving on a nonprofit board. Participants must attend and participate in both sessions to receive the certificate.
