Certificate in
Nonprofit management
The Nonprofit Leadership Center offers a graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management in collaboration with the University of Tampa. The program is taught by Ph.D. faculty in partnership with leading nonprofit practitioners. It consists of four one-week seminars during a 15-month period. The program represents 12 credit hours of graduate-level instruction.
Seminars are generally held in May and August of the first calendar year and January and May of the second. Candidates must be able to spend two weeks in a calendar year away from their offices for the seminars.
Curriculum Overview
Certificate candidates are immersed in a life-changing experience with other organizational leaders and future leaders, increasing their knowledge of the nonprofit sector, working alongside and networking with professionals from other organizations, and creating solutions to challenges and opportunities to drive community impact.

- Marketing, research and communications
- Accounting and financial management
- Leadership and innovation

Research from the first 15 years of graduates from the Certificate in Nonprofit Management shows that the program increases participants’ knowledge, confidence, professional relationships and career advancement while also contributing to nonprofit effectiveness.
Increases Knowledge
- 96% of graduates say participating in the program has helped them be more effective in their jobs.
- 94% of graduates have applied concepts learned to achieve fundraising goals, while 70% have applied learnings to achieve mission goals.
Builds Confidence
- 94% of graduates agree they feel more confident in their leadership skills based on participating in the program.
- 78% believe their peers are more confident in their leadership skills based on participating in the program.
- 76% agree that their supervisors trust their expertise more based on participating in the program.
Broadens Professional Network
- 88% of graduates agree the program helped them grow their professional network.
- 88% agree the program has helped them collaborate more effectively with others.
Advances Careers
- 92% of graduates say their careers have benefited from participating in the program.
- Since graduating, 68% have reported increased job responsibilities, 60% an increase in pay, and 55% a job promotion.
Improves Nonprofit Effectiveness
- 85% of graduates agree their organization has benefitted from their participation in the program.
- In addition to becoming more strategic and effective leaders for their organizations, alumni said the most significant benefits to their organizations were 1) organizational growth, 2) application of project learnings, and 3) process or policy improvements.
During the 2023 academic year, total tuition was $8,508. With added scholarships, projected student tuition with books is $4,554.
