Building Bridges Through Intercultural Competence: Assessment

About This Event

Starting:

May 5, 2026

Nonprofit organizations work with and serve increasingly diverse communities. To effectively support our communities, nonprofit leaders must be able to build connections across lines of difference.

Intercultural competence is a skill set that allows us to adapt to cultural differences and commonalities, thus providing a foundation for better working relationships with people of varied backgrounds and experiences. The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) is a rigorously developed assessment tool that places individuals on a spectrum of intercultural competence, providing insight as to where they currently stand on the continuum and recommending strategies for growth.

If you would like to better understand your level of intercultural competence, this training is for you.

Prior to the class, you will:

  • Take the IDI assessment to determine your current orientation in the intercultural competence continuum
  • Receive and review your IDI assessment results

During the class, you will:

  • Learn what intercultural competence is and how it impacts you personally and professionally
  • Develop an understanding of the IDI assessment and your individual results
  • Explore tangible steps you can take to increase your intercultural competence

The registration deadline for this training is April 28, allowing registrants to complete the assessment before the training starts.

For late registrations, please note that once you register, you’re committed to completing the assessment by Sunday, May 3. If you cancel, you will not be reimbursed for the assessment.
