Nonprofit organizations work with and serve increasingly diverse communities. To effectively support our communities, nonprofit leaders must be able to build connections across lines of difference.
Intercultural competence is a skill set that allows us to adapt to cultural differences and commonalities, thus providing a foundation for better working relationships with people of varied backgrounds and experiences. The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) is a rigorously developed assessment tool that places individuals on a spectrum of intercultural competence, providing insight as to where they currently stand on the continuum and recommending strategies for growth.

Full participation in Building Bridges Through Intercultural Competence: Assessment is applicable for 4.0 points in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.
Meriel MartÃnez is the director of program strategy at the Nonprofit Leadership Center. She oversees the organization’s key program areas and focuses on training and development in human-centered leadership. Meriel is also a certified trainer in conflict management and intercultural competence.

No-Show Policy
Organizations using funds and promo codes from the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County (CBHC) or the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas (JWB) to participate in events at the Nonprofit Leadership Center will be responsible for paying all registration and processing fees in the event of a no-show. Please read the full no-show policy here.
