The National Press Photographers Association is dedicated to the advancement of visual journalism – its creation, practice, training, editing and distribution – in all news media and works to promote its role as a vital public service.

We serve

We serve thousands of visual journalists nationally and internationally, and our legal advocacy benefits the journalism industry as a whole

Our greatest accomplishment last year

Our General Counsel is urging Congress to reject federal judiciary opposition to the Sunshine in the Courtroom Act. Through a new partnership, we developed a journalist toolkit for members covering the FIFA World Cup. We have also worked to free journalist members who were detained and arrested while covering ICE protests.

Reasons to serve on our board

Help the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) promote press freedom and strengthen the visual journalism community by assisting with the organization’s strategic, long-term financial goals. We are an 80-year-old nonprofit serving journalists nationally and internationally through legal advocacy, training and education, and prestigious award recognition. If you consume news in any form, chances are you have seen or been impacted by the work of an NPPA member.

We are looking for a financial professional who excels at budget preparation and management. Candidate does not need to be an NPPA member to serve. Full list of duties here: https://nppa.org/news/854
