Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA)
Founded in 1977, CASA is the official 501c3 domestic violence center based in Pinellas County, FL. We operate the area’s 24-hour hotline and emergency shelter; non-residential programs, such as support groups, economic empowerment and legal advocacy; Child Protective Investigative Team support; community and corporate training; and the CASA Peacemakers anti-bullying and healthy relationship school curriculum.
Position Title: Development Director
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
FLSA: Full Time-Exempt
MAJOR FUNCTION: This is a key strategic position within CASA overseeing the fund development, donor stewardship, and community relations functions of the organization, providing direct supervision of the Development Department staff.
Essential Duties:
· Advocate and promote the needs of CASA, its mission, its programs, and domestic violence prevention.
· Work closely with the CEO to develop, implement, evaluate, and execute on the annual stewardship, fund development, and community relations plans.
- Identify and build relationships with new donors.
- Maintain relationships with existing sponsors.
- Obtain financial support from individuals and organizations.
- Management of Development software including data management, segmentation, and regular reporting.
- Manage staff responsible for data entry, gift processing, and reports.
· Plan and execute events to engage supporters, volunteers, donors, and partners of CASA.
· Serve as staff liaison to committees as assigned to build relationships and facilitate engagement.
· Collaborate closely with the Marketing & Communications Team who are responsible for CASA’s brand and messaging strategy and the production of all communication tools for CASA’s fundraising strategies.
· Secure sponsorships and donations for CASA’s fundraising events (currently Scavenger Hunt and Gala) as well as various approved marketing initiatives.
· Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time.
· Promote the solicitation, cultivation and stewardship of donors and donor prospects as appropriate.
· Join and attend professional groups and educational sessions as approved. Maintain understanding of current trends in the field and industry.
· Develop, manage, and submit the annual Department budget.
·Hires, evaluates, and as necessary provide disciplinary action including termination of direct reports in cooperation with the Human Resources Department.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- College degree in a related field preferred.
- Familiarity with Blackbaud. Website coding, and website management systems a plus.
- Prior experience in a non-profit development or communications role preferred.
- Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies.
- Excellent writing, editing and verbal communications skills.
- A strong record of accomplishment as an implementer who can manage a variety of key initiatives concurrently.
- Relationship builder with the ability to “manage by influence”.
- Effectively communicate strategic and tactical initiatives in a way that promotes a unified understanding and approach to departmental deliverables.
- Commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters.
- Self-starter, able to work independently, and implement new initiatives.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Possess and maintain a valid Florida State Driver’s License to be verified annually.
- Personal transportation and auto insurance.
- Ability and willingness to drive CASA vehicles.
- Agree to a background check.
- Possess the ability to climb stairs and lift 50 pounds.
