Description / Details:

James B. Sanderlin Neighborhood Family Center | St. Petersburg, FL

The James B. Sanderlin Neighborhood Family Center is seeking a Family Support Program Director who believes, as we do, that children and families thrive when they are supported with dignity, consistency, and care. This role is for a leader who is grounded in community, committed to follow-through, and motivated by impact rather than title or salary.

This position reports directly to the Executive Director and provides oversight for key family support services, including the food pantry, case management, front office operations, and maintenance. The Director ensures programs operate with excellence, staff feel supported and accountable, and families experience consistent, respectful care.

The Family Support Program Director represents the Center at community meetings and events, sharing the mission and building partnerships that strengthen support for children and families. As needed, this role may assist with education department leadership, with a focus on compliance with the Pinellas County Licensing Board and the Early Learning Coalition. The Director is also an essential member of the Program Quality Improvement (PQI) Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for family support services, including food pantry, case management, front office, and maintenance
  • Supervise and support staff through clear expectations, coaching, and accountability
  • Ensure programs are implemented effectively and aligned with organizational goals
  • Represent the Center in the community and support partnership development
  • Support compliance efforts related to licensing and early learning systems
  • Participate in PQI and continuous improvement efforts
  • Help move existing initiatives forward and support the completion of key projects

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a nonprofit, school, community-based, or human services setting
  • Demonstrated experience managing staff, programs, and day-to-day operations
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead with professionalism, care, and accountability
  • Ability to represent the organization effectively in community meetings and partnership settings
  • Working knowledge of compliance expectations in youth-serving or family-serving programs (licensing experience preferred)
  • Proficiency with basic technology tools (email, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, data tracking systems)
  • Ability to pass required background screening

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Experience working in early learning or school-age programming
  • Experience with continuous improvement processes, PQI, or program evaluation
  • Familiarity with Pinellas County Licensing Board and/or the Early Learning Coalition

Salary: DOE (Depends on Experience)
