Position: Peer Counselor /Client Advocate Hours: 9:00 am 3:00 pm

Days: Monday Thursday Location: St. Petersburg, FL Pay $16.50-$18.50/hour

Job Description:

 

The primary responsibility of the Peer Counselor is to serve as an advocate for BAPC clients. This is done by providing compassionate, one-on-one support to women and couples facing unplanned pregnancies. A heart for ministry, commitment to life-affirming values, and the ability to serve clients with professionalism and care is critical in this role. As an advocate, they assist in the development of strength-based goals and provide information on ways to maintain personal and family wellness. The Peer Counselor works collaboratively with other members of the care team to provide these services.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Welcome clients, assist with intake, and support daily center operations
  • Meet with and support clients in a non-judgmental, compassionate manner
  • Record each client session by completing the client case file- intake form and detailed client case notes
  • Answer calls, schedule appointments, maintain client files and follow center policies
  • Guide clients through educational resources (Bright Course Program).
  • Help train volunteers, organize supplles, distribute baby items, and witness ultrasounds as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and both community and BAPC events
  • Provide emotional support and spiritual guidance
  • Follow up regarding missed appointments, major life events, birth of baby, etc.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Support and uphold the mission, vision, and Statement of Faith of BAPC
  • Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and be committed to prayer.
  • Exhibit strong commitment and dedication to the sanctity of human life
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; data systems experience preferred
  • Dependable, Team-oriented, self-motivated, and willing to travel between locations

 

 

Experience:

  • Personal lived experience with pregnancy, birth and parenting.
  • Two years in a role that champions client’s needs and fosters trust desired.
