Erin McKenney, Esq., believes in the power of community and that the strongest communities are built on strong relationships. Today, the Nonprofit Leadership Center is thrilled to announce that Erin McKenney, Esq., has joined our board of directors to help strengthen nonprofits and our communities.
“The Nonprofit Leadership Center recognizes the impact of nonprofits and provides resources and leadership training to help nonprofit leaders succeed. As a participant in several NLC training courses and a graduate of the Certificate in Nonprofit Management program, I know first-hand how valuable its services are to the industry. It is an honor to serve on the NLC board and give back to an organization that has provided so much to the nonprofit professionals in our community.”

Erin is the capital campaign director at the University of Tampa (UT). Before joining UT, Erin led operations at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church and served as a major gifts officer at St. Petersburg College.
But Erin did not start her career as a nonprofit professional. Prior to transitioning into the nonprofit sector in 2019, Erin was an attorney. She spent more than six years as a prosecutor at the State Attorney’s Office and also worked in private practice, focusing on health care, business transactions, private equity, and real estate.
“During my time as an attorney, I consistently volunteered and served on nonprofit boards throughout the community. At the end of 2019, I decided to take a leap of faith and transition my career away from the practice of law and into the nonprofit sector. While my career path has seen some twists and turns in the past 17 years, I look back and see a through line of strong relationships that has not wavered.”

Today in her role as capital campaign director at UT, Erin says she draws on her analytical and strategic skills while also continuing to build relationships both internally and externally in the community. “It’s truly the perfect blend of my skills and passions,” she says.
Outside of work, Erin enjoys spending time with her husband and their dogs, hosting dinners, riding bikes, and walking on Bayshore.
Please join us in welcoming Erin McKenney to Team NLC.
