Mariana is a highly respected Business Leader with deep experience in building and managing Human Resources functions. An agile change agent with proven ability to lead organizations through major transformations, she is a results-driven HR Executive with expertise in talent management, succession planning, diversity/equity/inclusion, employee engagement, total rewards and overall HR operations.

An agile change agent with proven ability to lead organizations through major transformations, she is a results-driven HR Executive with expertise in talent management, succession planning, diversity/equity/inclusion, employee engagement, total rewards and overall HR operations.

As VP and Chief HR Officer at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Mariana oversaw a diverse workforce of more than 7,800 team members on Moffitt’s four campuses and a $90 million budget. She served as a strategic partner, trusted advisor and thought leader regarding strategic HR issues, and contributed to long-range strategies for culture, talent, leadership development and workforce planning. Under her leadership, Moffitt received numerous awards, including earning Best Place to Work honors from numerous publications and being ranked among DiversityInc’s Top 10 Hospitals and Healthcare Organizations for fostering diversity & inclusion.

This followed her time at Partners HealthCare System, Inc., the biggest healthcare provider in Massachusetts, where Mariana had a number of leadership roles culminating in Vice President of Human Resources. Prior to this, Mariana co-owned and led two companies that provided transportation services to physically and mentally challenged adults and children.

Mariana’s extensive Board experience includes being a Board Member at NLC, Chair of its HR Task Force and Member of its Revenue Committee; Member of the Alumni Association and Member of the Recruitment and Programs Committees for Leadership Tampa Bay; Founding Co-Chair of Friends of Caritas Cubana Tampa Chapter; and Board Member and Assistant Treasurer of Friends of Caritas Cubana.

Mariana is a Member of several professional organizations, including Human Resource People & Strategy (HRPS), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), National Comprehensive Cancer Network HR (NCCN-HR), Tampa Bay Works/Tampa Bay Partnership, Florida Healthcare CHRO Roundtable and LockHR Healthcare CHRO Roundtable.

Away from work, Mariana is a Mentor with NLC’s Advancing Racial Equity on Nonprofit Boards Fellowship. She has been a Panelist with the Tampa Bay Women in Leadership Symposium National Diversity Council. She was named a Top 50 HR Professional Awardee, OnCon Icon; and People First Honoree by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
